An Overview of Different Types of Hideaway Beds

Getting a good night's sleep is essential for everyone, often meaning finding the right bed for your space. Hideaway beds are an excellent option for those who want to make the most out of their limited space while still having a comfortable place to lay their head. In this article, we'll be taking a closer look at some of the different hideaway beds available today.

Wall beds

The first type of hideaway bed one might think of is the traditional wall bed, which folds up snugly into the wall, freeing up floor space when not in use. Unlike basic pull-out beds (also called fold-up beds) that typically have a pole on the bottom middle part of the mattress, wall beds feature high-quality mattresses for a comfortable night's sleep and no pole in sight! In addition, wall beds and custom cabinetry offer built-in drawers, shelves, and storage and can transform your room into a multi-use space. There are also wall beds with custom home office cabinetry.

Futons

Futon Beds are an excellent option for extra seating and a bed. Futon beds consist of a slatted base with thick mattresses that can be folded and stored away when unused. This versatility makes them perfect for homes with limited space, as they can be easily converted from a comfortable sofa into an inviting bed without taking up too much space.

Convertible Sleepers

Convertible sleepers are the perfect solution for those who need to utilize their space efficiently. These types of beds are great for small living spaces as they don't require much additional room. Convertible sleepers can be pulled out from sofas or chairs and come with mattresses of varying thicknesses, giving you a choice between a firm or soft sleeping surface. You pull out the trundle, which is the bottom of the sleeper, where your legs rest against the couch, then lift the cushion for the lounging position.

Murphy Beds

Finally, there's also what's known as a Murphy Bed Cabinet. This popular hideaway bed is a cabinet during the day and a bed at night. The bed's mattress folds in three ways within the cabinet, leaving you or your guests with a comfortable place to sleep without metal bars. Plus, operating it is easy: you open the bottom drawer out. Next, you release the latches on both sides of the bed cabinet and pull out the extension from the bottom. Then you flip open the cabinet front once, then again to fully extend the bed. Finally, you unfold and pull out the mattress. Murphy Bed Cabinets offer plenty of comfort thanks to strong frames and comfy mattresses explicitly built for them!
